Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I consider using GAM’s products and services?

To create greater value from the product you produce or sell and to meet developing government/industry mandates.

What value do GAM’s products and services offer?

There are numerous documented cases where food producers are getting premiums for products which meet specific consumer attributes. These attributes range from organic foods, to all-natural foods, to foods raised under protocols and standards set by retailers as well as age, source and process verification. These value-added foods are supported by a system of data and records which validate claims made and advertised attributes and serve as a record of audit for the food supply chain.

What are the government/industry regulatory issues?

There are two major industry issues. One is the National Animal ID System (NAIS) and the other, Country Of Origin Labeling (COOL). In both cases, they call for identifying livestock and poultry at the group lot or individual animal level. Once identified, specific information will be collected and "attached" to each individual and/or group and this specific information will follow the animal or group throughout its lifecycle (NAIS) and through to the package of meat (COOL).

How can GAM help me with the NAIS?

First, we can be your total service provider to ensure you are meeting the data and information requirements which NAIS calls for. Our industry and regulatory knowledge coupled with our ability to collect the appropriate information, store that information and route that information to the destination which has been specified by industry or government, ensures you are in compliance with current regulations. Secondly, and equally important to compliance, we are prepared to help you drive value from your data collection process.

How can GAM help me with COOL?

By using Global Animal Management, Inc. data collection, storage and processing tools on the "front end" of your supply chain, we help you verify the source and origin of raw, in-process or finished materials entering your supply chain. Linking the "front end" with either the processing, packaging, distribution and retail information, ensures an auditable trail along the entire supply chain. If you require, we can also configure our "front end" tools so they have application further "up" your supply chain beyond the source or origin. In each and every case, the information collected can then be securely stored, processed and analyzed, per your needs, in the Gam® Portal.

What is the GAM® portal?

The Gam® Portal is a Web based, Internet enabled data warehouse. This means using nothing more than an Internet connection and Web browser you can have access to your data from anywhere at anytime. You can also share your data vertically and horizontally across your supply chain or company. As a subscriber to the Gam® Portal, you receive a user ID and passcode to ensure data privacy. Our technology platform is designed using the most current and robust security tools. Once you have proper authorization, you can then control your information and access to it as you see fit. The Gam® Portal is configured seamlessly with our front end data collection tools, so data can be uploaded or downloaded between the two systems using a variety of file or communication formats -- Http, Ftp or email. The functionality on the Gam® Portal allows for a range of value-added data processing. You process your data and receive those reports which provide you the decision tools you need today. If you require technical assistance, we will provide the needed support to prepare reports which are of meaning to your business.

What equipment do I need to utilize GAM products and services?

First, you will need some method of identifying the item which is of interest to you and your business, for example, beef cattle. Identification technology could be visual ID, barcode, RFID, brand or retinal scan. Secondly, you need some form of an electronic device to capture data. This could be either a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), a laptop computer, tablet PC or desktop computer. Using either your telephone line or via wireless connection, your data is transmitted to the Gam® Portal or other GAM web based solution such as Tri-Merit or Auction Check. You also need an Internet service provider or access to the Internet and a Web browser installed on your PDA, tablet PC, laptop or desktop.
