Tagging Station Functionality

A tagging station is the first destination from birthplace of origin at which cattle are tagged. Most tagging stations are at feedlots or sale barns. The tagging station records the data, then returns the data to the Tri-Merit facilitator or livestock producer.

  • The tagging station must agree to follow the external standard operating procedures (SOPs) designated by Tri-Merit, including necessary paperwork performed with every transaction.
  • GAM performs a yearly audit of the tagging station for certification on an annual basis.
  • Operations must be approved via a desk audit before cattle are received at approved tagging station locations.
